Frequently Asked Questions About Marquee and Pavilion Hire
Who sets up the marquee or pavilion?
Customers can set up the pop-up marquees themselves. Pavilions, pagodas and The Manor must be installed by Olympic Party Hire’s highly trained staff.
What size marquee or pavilion do I need?
For seated dining, allow at least 1.5 square metres per person for the dining area alone. This does not include additional space for dancing, buffet tables, a bar, band, entrance areas or catering.
For a more casual standing event, approximately 0.5 square metres per person may be suitable. Larger events may require closer to 2 square metres per guest once additional event areas are included.
What is the difference between a marquee and a pavilion?
A pop-up marquee is a lightweight, flexible option that is suitable for markets, stalls, sporting events and other short-term uses. It is not designed to provide the same level of weather resistance as a pavilion.
A pavilion is a more substantial and secure structure, making it better suited to weddings, parties, festivals and larger events where weather protection and stability are important. Our pavilion options include white roof, clear roof and black-frame styles.
When can the marquee or pavilion be set up and taken down?
Setup and pack-down times depend on the structure, event date, venue access and the overall delivery schedule. Our team will confirm the available times and arrangements when your booking is organised.
How much space is needed around a marquee or pavilion?
Allow additional space around the marquee or pavilion for securing the structure.
If it is being pegged, the ground must be suitable and underground services such as power, water and plumbing need to be considered. Pavilion pegs are approximately 90cm long, so the surface must be checked before pegging. If pegging is not suitable, the structure may need to be secured using weights. If it is being weighted, allow approximately 0.5 metres around each side for the weights.
What should I check before choosing a site?
Make sure the area is clear of trees, low-hanging branches, powerlines and other overhead obstructions. The site should also be as level as possible, with clear access for delivery, setup and pack-down.
